30.08.2016: Here comes the fire brigade:
Our service users got into the spirit of things at our Activities Club on Tuesday night when they took part in a question and answer session with members of Alloa's Fire Services. A massive thanks to "Green Watch" who came along to the Bowmar centre equiped with their fire truck which went down a treat.
The fire safety officers spent time in the club talking through basic fire safety in the home, how to raise the alarm, the importance of smoke detectors and took some very good questions from our service users. The guys also covered what happens when hoax calls are made and how it can put peoples lives in danger.
Highlight of the night was the fire truck. Most of the clubs service users sat in the back of the fire truck where they were shown how the heat seeking camera works and in some cases how to wear the firemans helmet the correct way. All our service users thoroughly enjoyed the evening although Emma was very disappointed that Fireman Sam hadnt arrived.....maybe next time Emma.
Home visits are available from your local Fire Safety Officers if you would like information and help on fire safety within your home. Please contact your local Fire station for further details.
We would like to thank the members of "Green Watch" who kindly attended our activities club and to our club co-ordinator Jean duncan for arranging such a fun and informative night.
